Resource Center Camp Orange

In March 2009, via funds provided through International Project “Roots for Reconciliation” & YMCA of the USA, YMCA of Georgia managed to obtain the land where it is planned to develop the Community Resource Center. The site is located in the West Georgia, on the Black Sea coast, in the vicinity of resort Ureki. The legal owner of the site is the YMCA of Georgia. The site was purchased from individual owner at the price of 15 USD per sq. m.

 

The site is situated 2 kilometers south-west from the populated area. It is 205 meters above sea level and is linked to the central highway with 800 meter-long gravel road.

The zone has warm and humid climate, the vegetation does not cease in winter.

The average annual temperature is +13, 8 Celsius.

The maximum air temperature in summer is + 39 Celsius.

The average annual precipitation is 1749 mm.

The average annual relative humidity of the air is 78 %.

The territory of the site is the former collective farm of Citrons that was later privatized. The site is the garden of citrons with more than 100 trees of lemons, oranges and tangerines that bear fruits. The site is surrounded by hilly landscape covered with citron gardens as well. The entire territory is bordered with coniferous trees. 

 

At the moment the external facade of the facility is completed. Two floors of the facility are constructed. Porch on the first floor is completed. Roof is installed. Rainwater collection and dispensing system is installed on the roof. 140 sq. m. space on the first floor is complete – 80 sq. m. for indoor activities; 4 office rooms each 12 sq. m.; 12 sq. m corridor. Rooms on the first and second floor have metal plastic windows and doors. Rooms are provided with electricity. 1 metal door and 4 wooden doors are installed; 2 toilet facilities with 2 wash-stands and one shower cabin are in place. The road leading to the facility is covered with gravel.

Overall, we plan to construct multi-functional facility that will accommodate approximately 50 people and will be equipped with conference and dining halls, Sports and recreational facilities, office space and etc…

 

CRC will be utilized for conducting camps, reunions, trainings and seminars. Not only for the use of YMCA, but we plan to offer the service of CRC to other organizations as well. It will contribute to the self-sustainability of the Center, as well as YMCA of Georgia.
